The fountain operates Monday through Friday 11am-1pm and 7pm-midnight; Saturday and Sunday from 10am-midnight. The fountain is active mid-April to November 1. Take a Gondola ride on the 15 acre lake; see Lewis and Clark Interpretive exhibits, the WWII and Heartland Airborne Memorials; take a stroll or relax at a picnic table. Home to the exceptional Ak-Sar-Ben Aquarium, this 330-acre state recreation area located along the Platte River offers spectacular views, three miles of hiking paths, and an interesting history of fishing activity in Nebraska. The site of the state's first fish hatchery (1882), the old hatch house is now a fishing management museum. Inside the aquarium, 12 viewing tanks offer an amazing glimpse into underwater wildlife. Outside, nature's bounty provides the perfect spot for picnicking and exploring.

Facilities include a large indoor pavilion, 4 covered park shelters, 2 softball fields, soccer field, horseshoe pits, and playground equipment. CAST-A-WAYS Boat House rents canoes and paddle boats. They also sell hunting and fishing permits and operate a snack bar. Winter rates for RV Sites are $2 less per day with no water, effective Oct 15 - Apr 14.

Description: Lake Manawa State Park is one of the most popular outdoor recreation facilities in the Omaha/Council Bluffs metropolitan area. The park's 1,529 acres encompass a beautiful 772-acre lake. Lake Manawa was formed during a flood in 1881 when a portion of the river channel was cut off by the meandering of the great Missouri River. Over the years, the resulting "oxbow" lake, became a major outdoor recreation center for thousands of visitors. "Manawa" is a Native American term meaning "peace and comfort."
